Maker Alexis Maria Agbay has been working with textiles for about ten years. With a background in clothing construction, many of the techniques she uses are machine or hand sewing methods learned from working in a variety of specialized fields. Costuming, bespoke tailoring, and millinery, to name a few. Each piece created begins with a concept which is then visually expressed using the materials and techniques she likes to explore: fabric and sewing.
Eyetrade handmade is about sharing what we see. Why do we wear certain garments and why do we display certain art works? The reason is because they communicate both visually and emotionally. They create a tangible atmosphere that tells different stories to different people. All art allows for many truths. Eyetrade aims to exploit that communication to deeper understand those truths for creating an honest perspective. Whether it be exploring the functionality of a wallet or understanding the difference between the hole in the ozone and global warming.
