GEOSMIN (jee-OZ-min) noun, an organic compound with an earthy scent and flavor, produced particularly by microorganisms in the soil.
HALCYON (hal-see-uhn) adjective, denoting a period of time in the past that was idyllically happy and peaceful.
LAGNIAPPE (ˈlanˌyap) Cajun noun, a little something extra.
BELEAGUER (bih-lee-ger) verb, to surround or beset with troubles.

Sound Bites is a series inspired by an old CD holder display piece I used for art shows. Each piece is the size of a CD case and is a visual abstract interpretation of an interesting word. They are meant to be a snap-shot of the illusive feeling evoked by the sound of certain vocabulary. A picturesque synesthesia of unique definitions.

LASSITUDE (las-i-tood) noun, a state of physical or mental weariness; lack of energy.
ABYSSOPELAGIC (uh-biss-oh-puh-LAJ-ik) adjective, layer of the open ocean between 4,000 and 6,000 meters (about 13,000 to 20,000 feet) deep, characterized by total darkness, extreme cold, and immense pressure.
AESTHETE (es-theet) noun, a person highly sensitive to art and beauty.
