Erosion is the result of a call-for-art prompt calling creators to, “consider the textile’s industry’s ties to carbon emissions,” with a lavender color scheme. The dress is hand-dyed in increments so the top was submerged in the dye bath for the least amount of time and the bottom was submerged for the longest amount of time. This slow and subtle gradient represents humanity’s relationship with climate change. So gradual it is easy to ignore until it is too late. The cotton scarf depicts fashion’s beautiful chokehold on our society.
